  “IT’S A BRAIN EATING HUMAN!” somebody yelled.

  All of a sudden everything went crazy.

  But then, somebody yelled really loudly, “SIIIILLLLENCE!!!!”

  A rickety old Zombie walked through the crowd toward Steve.

  He came up to him and looked him over.

  I could see on Steve’s face that he thought he was dead for sure.

  Then the rickety old man yelled, “HE’S OK!”

  “Heerrraayyyy!!!! He’s OK!!!!” Everybody yelled.

  Then the music started again and everybody went back to their partying.

  “Dad, what was that all about?” I asked him.

  “Oh, didn’t you know? Grandpa Methuselah used to be human before became a Zombie,” Dad said. “He fell in love with Grandma Smelda Zombie about 900 years ago, and decided to switch sides. But he still has a soft spot for humans.”

  Then Steve, Piggy, Wesley and I, and the rest of the Zombie clan, just partied till daylight.

  Wednesday

  So this has been the best summer ever.

  But unfortunately it has to come to an end.

  School starts in a few weeks, and I’m actually looking forward to going back.

  I’m looking forward to seeing my best friends Skelee, Slimey and Creepy again. And I’m really looking forward to seeing my ghoulfriend Sally.

  I thought I was going to spend the whole summer playing video games and eating cake. But I wouldn’t trade the summer I had for all of the video games or cake in the Overworld.

  So, I’m going into eighth grade this year, which is really scary.

  I think it means that I need to grow up.

  But whatever is in store for me, and no matter how difficult it gets, the one thing I can count on are the love of my family and the love of my friends. And, I can especially count on my best bud Steve.

  So, get ready eighth grade, here I come!
